It is instant for me when using podman but by no means instant when using docker. Docker on Linux native is stay way faster than on macOS and Windows. But so far running with podman has the lowest overhead I have seen.

Microsandbox claims to start faster than docker, and it is isolated from the host, and to work with OCI. Why would I still want to use docker? The only reason I can imagine is that I actually want to be able to dynamically share resources b

In the Netherlands we are already transporting “waste energy” in the form of heat to greenhouses to warm them in winter. Also interesting that the article states that this engineering problem hadn’t been solved before. Google pioneered runn

You can indeed. But then you lose significant space internally and not to mention the noise. Of course, better than having nothing. However, space in these houses comes at a premium as well.

Most airconditioning is supplied by Asian manufacturers anyway. Not sure what is in it for big USA. Other than a general increase in consumption.

I already love our airconditioning. The only downside is how quickly we became used to the luxury. But being to make our house liveable during this heatwave and be able to have friends and family and friends of the kids over as a refuge is

The detail here is that the capital is fictive instead of liquid. It consists of companies pumping money in circles with promises of investments and orders. Most of that money will probably not change hands but in the mean time it is used c

Why the snark? The existing methods have been around for ages. Many engineers I’ve encountered were not even aware that there was a distinction between “idempotent” and “safe” as attributes of a method and generally conflated them, using “s

Meanwhile T-Mobile/Odido in the Netherlands is still not supporting IPv6 despite promising to have been working on it for years. Ubiquity gateways also seem to not support it sadly. It would be awesome if they supported something like

I think there is nothing inherently wrong with changing code that can be improved but shouldn’t have focus as long as the other work also happens. It improves his understanding of the codebase and makes the code “better”. (Obviously, feedba

The point is that you need to take care to make the implementation of that endpoint safe. It isn’t safe magically by itself.

We already have robot grass trimmers and they work pretty well. Why would you want a crude, inefficient, facsimile of a human push or power an inefficient form of mowing the lawn?

Yes. That is what the spec says. However, if the search query is expensive you need some form of caching. Either on the endpoint itself caching the data, or the mechanism with location to redirect to the location of the result.

It’s even weirder now. When you share a video through the button (which is the only way in the app) and another person opens the link while logged in you will now be linked in YouTube and you can share “directly” to the other’s YouTube. …

Sure, to approach frontier model quality locally we need to have more power. And H200s are a way to get there. However, we need to use the tools that we have. Even if I wanted to buy a (bunch of) H200 for me and my colleagues and could ge

Yes sadly the Hyundai and Kia key fobs of EVs (at least EV9) don’t have the mechanical backup key in the fob anymore. So you need to carry it on your keychain. Don’t leave it in your trunk. If the 12V battery does out you won’t be able to g

At this point, is there an obligation of package managers, or at least npm to arrange the sandboxing themselves? Or as us or companies to wrap the build tools to provide the wrapping for them.
