There was also a ban export of strong cryptography. So Java couldn’t use string ciphers and algorithms without adding some additional jar which basically just turned the `enableStrongEncryption` flag on. This isn’t necessary anymore but I d

Have you found a tool similar to plantuml that runs completely in the browser? I could deploy the web server but it would be nicer if I didn’t have to maintain a running server for generating the images.

I’m a full time macOS user with multiple screens and haven’t used multiple screens on Linux and Windows in ~15 years. But what is missing from macOS? There was a time when I had displays that got switched around but that was fixed. I can se

I’m confused why something is needed. On my Ford I can just “reset” the TPMS after switching wheels from the main computer. I had to do it once because the shop forgot to do it. Why do you need a whole single thing to do it?

I’m not sure as I don’t work at Google and didn’t see any follow up. Maybe some in the winning teams would know. I do think there is some temporal logic already present in Google’s algorithm which wasn’t part of the challenge.

That is interesting. I’m not using my phone intensively. So I suppose any work Tailscale does in the background will have a lot of impact. I do use Tailscale to also proxy all my traffic over my exit node. This means it has to be always act

You would only apply the compression on the internally stored file and then decompress when retrieving it for the customer again. That way all the hashes and original structure of the user are retained.

I would use this, or just use my existing Tailscale setup. However, on my iPhone using Tailscale drastically reduces battery life. So much in fact that where normally I have 50-70% left before sleeping, I need to charge the phone at dinner

In the Netherlands it is allowed for emergency transportation not to use a car seat but just the seat belt. Obviously this doesn’t work for baby carriers. This is the reason why the baby carrier is left with the child, eg at daycare, so tha

At least in Europe the car seats are so wide and the benches so narrow that you can forget having 3 children in the back row. Also isofix is usually missing in the center “seat” which is typically smaller or even raised. The only case that

None other than peer reviews and habit. All our passphrases are something like “exampledatabasepassword” whereas in reality they are long tokens. Then, secrets from production are hard to extract and typically rotated (semi-continuously).

We actually do this in our internal framework. All secrets (passwords, key material, etc) that we have in documentation and example projects are blacklisted for production in the framework itself and applications refuse to start.

But then what is the point of having a higher end car with sound isolation for relaxed Highway driving only to add the engine noise again? I would indeed notice/mind it less if the sound were accurate.

Docker images can be stored as a file. And maybe are indeed stored on the file system as individual files as well. But building against a specific cr implementation for this seems too brittle.
