It remains a bit bitter sweet to see that so many features that we’ve had for 13+ years in Scala and longer in languages like Haskell and were ridiculed back then, now find their way to mainstream Java.

Although indeed the temperatures and GHG have been lower and higher on Earth before, that was never with the amount of humans we have now. Our economy and society is quite optimised and our infrastructure hubs are largely located on coasts.

How does this work in practice? If the application didn’t need this memory anymore because it is done with the work/data, shouldn’t it already have freed or munmapped it? Is there a signal that can be send to a process to free up and r

Don’t share this too hard. I’m afraid for a future where we are only able to watch content that is being streamed to our ocular implant directly. This has the nice benefit that it allows for hyper personalisation and always visible hyper re

We have ultrawides at the office that send usb to the source of video in auto mode but also has a button to override that and you press it to toggle between targets. Not sure about brand and model. Can check it when in the office.

Excellent write-up! Is there somewhere where I can read up on all the trading jargon? Also I wonder how can there be changes in the price of a stock after market if the exchange has closed? Isn’t the whole point that trades need to happen f

With Scala 3 a lot of the idiosyncrasies of scala 1/2 got fixed. (If you can get over some naming.) What is mostly brings for me is showing that composition beats inheritance and that classic OO trying to shove the real world in an inh

I think the GP question was how to migrate your eSIM to another phone. You can transfer the sim but it needs to be activated on the other phone. I have even seen reactivation charges of €5.
