Please note there are different meaning of the "law". And for blockchain it's "law of nature", i.e., just how it works, the principles you have to accept, not legal laws. So at least for the Ethereum Classic thing,

I think the more interesting part is investment into a bad behavior. And that's what most PoS are trying to solve, ex. with slashing, etc. With PoW regardless outcome you have to spend money on "work", to buy IRL electricity.

It wasn't a problem with the device. It was Apple decision that one day disallowed to download existing working software. They had the software, and I don't think it was too expensive to keep it downloadable for a few more years.

I understand that a company cannot keep all old software downloadable forever, but note that in this case it was just a four years old device.

Yeah, that's what I did. Found an unofficial repair and replaced the battery for less that $100. Anyway, I don't think it should be so hard to replace a battery. And I still remember times when I was able to replace battery manual

You can redownload supporting apps, but the problem is that the official App Store doesn't have them once a new version of OS comes out. I remember when in 2014 I decided to give away my unused iPad 1st gen, just as a e-reader. So I&#x

I cannot replace a battery on a perfectly working iPad otherwise, and Apple is charging almost a price of a new device to replace it for me, i.e. they are basially forcing me to buy a new one. Wondering, can that be called a planned obsoles

Buybacks may be more effective than dividends. If you consider your bought stocks as a source of income, then you get more control and better taxes with buy-back stocks. With dividends you can't really rely on a future amount, i.e. you

I think one of the limiting factors is Android, which is still stuck with Java 8. So if you're developing a library, which in theory may be used in Android app by others, you have to stick to Java 8 to make it compatible.

I'm not sure how this can be applied to the discussed issue? Especially considering that this kind of trades are atomic (when run by miners/flashbots), though maybe we use different notion of "atomic".

It's not about doing trades without moving market afterwards, it's about market moving _before trade_ as a preliminary response of the trade existence.

Take a look at OpenDime [1] + ColdPower [2]. First is a one-time hardware private key, with physical protection of it (i.e. you need to break the device psychically to extract bitcoins), and ability to verify address by plugin-in into USB.
