I happened to be reading The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins and Gödel, Escher, Bach by Douglas Hofstadter at the same time, and both of them point at exactly this being the reason for consciousness. I was stunning at how both reached the s

Efficient renewable energy is great, but isn't the problem storage of that energy? Without storage, the energy generated by renewables needs to be used up by the grid immediately. Won't most of it be wasted?

I have a friend that worked in Amazon for a while. He told me that after outages are repaired, there is a spike in sales but that it is never enough to cover the loses. The revenue does just disappear.

I completely disagree. Yes, we need to quantify tradeoffs between models mathematically, but that does not not require knowledge of the mathematics behind the models themselves. With cross validation, I can estimate the effectiveness of man

The mathematics of the model you end up using at the end of the day is such a small part of the overall picture when making use of machine learning.

Is it possible to run this algorithm efficiently for a large number of users? My intuition is telling me that the naive implementation its factorial time due to the problem of selecting combinations of users and posts to test.
