Greatest sound card of all. Lost to creative because of some of their underhanded business practices. If you're picking one up now look for the ACE model. It's output only, and has much less interference than the regular models.

Hopefully they extend this back to NeXTStep interoperability. I would love to be able to run Quantrix and FrameMaker.

The way I view Nextstep is some pragmatic programmers were in awe of Smalltalk. Which isn't surprising everyone was in awe of smalltalk (SJ copied it to make the Mac after all). Disappointed they couldn't have it, they went out, g

Wow. That audio chat was obnoxious. Nerds laughing at themselves about how smart they are (in hindsight). NeXT was attempting to bring OOP programming to the masses, along with some really excellent for the time (and even now) rapid develop

No worries. Some people however are hoarding rare software - software that is very likely to cease to exist once their collections fail. But refuse to share or make backups.

Un there actually. I"m looking for the stuff you can't find there. Like Virtuoso 2.0 (freehand 5 on the Mac apparently), and other things. Really if you have any NeXT software you should make copies and share with the world.

What are people using to book/look up train travel? I just tried to find a London to Belgrade route and absolutely none of the planners I found via DDG were capable. They'd all gladly sell me a pass, but none told me what station

What am I missing here? The marketing presentations spoke about 200GB/sec and 400GB/sec parts. Existing CPU's generally have 10s of GB/sec. But I see these parts beating out existing parts by small margins - 100% at best

The dictionary app (and hence its database) may go all the way back to NeXTStep/Openstep. Maybe not all of it. But I wouldn't doubt if bits of it went all the way back to the early days where a fancy dictionary was one of the star

That actually makes a bit of sense. NeXT (which reverse bought and absorbed Apple) was a weird pragmatic/bastard Smalltalk on top of Unix type system. To see that Avie hard worked on smalltalk (as well as microkernels) isn't a sho

These remind me of the group of seven artist Lawren Harris. He painted Glaciers and nature landscapes in a sort of art-deco style. The colour absolutely glows from his paintings. I get that same feeling here, and I love it.

So this gets complicated so Improv 1.0 is available on m68k next hw. Improv 2.0 was only available for windows x86. Lighthouse design quantrix for nextstep is available on m68k, x86, hp-parisc and sun hardware. Then there’s an offshoot of

There never was a lotus improv for non NeXT hardware. Lotus killed NeXT improv basically lay immediately after it came out. What happened was lighthouse design came in and built an exact clone of improv called quantrix. The manuals were int
