This is exactly right. In fact, Engineers can't blow the whistle on a company that's violating privacy law without harming our careers. I think Engineers who carry water for unethical companies probably get paid more. Your next em

This is just .... The people working on the political and PR areas at Facebook are badass. They come from places like the Obama administration. They now have a front-row seat in the negotiations for how governments around the world are nego

Is there any kind of organization for engineers that supports these types of ethical issues? I recently resigned from a job because because of similar privacy concerns and I found it really hard to talk to anyone. My situation was a very cl

I’m really talking about the mechanism of enforcement. Your point about the legal aspects are well taken. But, once those aspects have been resolved, as in Europe, I think there needs to be a better resolution than breaking search. Think ab

I think you deserve better than just having google modify its search results. If a newspaper is slandering you, we need to make them stop.

That’s where I come down on this too. Google isn’t defaming anyone. And, what about Bing, duck duck go, or any other search engine? The guy in the article could have put up his own website to correct the record. I don’t really like that sol

I think that was Lyft's model but Uber was "everybody's private driver" for their first product. They were black cars with professional drivers who did do it as a full time job. Now, "everybody's private driver

Hospitals have insurance for malpractice. My friend is an OBGYN so he gets sued every time a baby is born with complications. His view on it is that the family needs money to care for the child and the only way for them to get it is through

The fucked up thing is that if you put a muzzle on your dog so that they can't bite anyone, people will treat you like you're traveling with a dangerous animal.

This is basically southwest. Because you choose who you sit next to, people with service animals board first then people who like dogs, etc... board and sit next to them. It works really well.

The author has obviously never traveled with an emotional support animal. The difference between how you are treated by TSA with an animal and without is amazing. I travel with my dog and, as soon as TSA sees the vest, I am allowed to go th
