Here's a few examples from at 2010 CNBC story of top HFTs. It's a pretty diverse group but most were programmers and most started (relatively?) small. http://www.cnbc.com/id/39038892

Sounds more like a politician trying to have it both ways. Prop 8 had nothing to do with civil unions and said almost exactly what 2008 Obama said he believed. Then as the polls changed so did his "beliefs". Just politicians being

This is sad. I wish I lived in a world where your personal beliefs, even very unpopular ones, could be kept separate from your professional life. Unfortunately we seem to need to put people in a single box.

Anyone know DTZ's 2014 cost per workstation for San Francisco and Silicon Valley? In the 2011 it was much cheaper than New York and London and similar to Berlin. Not sure why the BBC author left it off the story.

You seem to be unfamiliar with the meaning of "market" in an economics context. I highly recommend getting at least a basic understanding of economics and economic terminology. It is very helpful in understanding the world.
