Probabilistic Robotics should be required reading for most robotics engineers, IMO. Great book.

So many of these comments sound like engineering process flaws. Everyone's working on their own ROS nodes in isolation....with no thought to eventual integration testing? It doesn't seem like that is a fundamental shortcoming spec

I have found that is a pretty good signal for how an organization's culture is set up in regards to helpfulness and camaraderie.

I felt the same. The presentation is innovative and impressive (for sure a SUCCESS), but I do not feel like there's anything broadly meaningful in the content and the whole thing feels like a massive exercise in namedropping.

It boggles my mind that more people aren't talking about this. I work in robotics and seeing an Alphabet moonshot come out of nowhere to take a controlling interest in OSRC is fascinating. Even validating for those who are working on e

> The standard PV connectors today are comically bad for handling by robots, dangling loosely from wires on the back of the module. Yeah, I made some machines that attached those harnesses in a prior life. My condolences. ;) > There&#

Very cool. Great to see fellow robotics starters on HN! How are you connecting the solar modules, electrically? Also, I didn't see on your page anything about remote work. I understand why that might not be in the cards for robotics wo

Incoming hearsay, but I've heard conflicting things from RealSense integrators on what Intel is actually doing with this product over the longer term. Someone mentioned that ongoing R&D is being shuttered, but the depth camera prod

This looks awesome! I didn't see this in the README, but does this gracefully handle ROS bags that aren't properly indexed?

Absolutely. I'm a sucker for good writing and I feel that you all set an excellent example of how to do technical writing and analysis correctly.

Author here. Wow, uh, I definitely did not expect to be featured on HN this morning, but seeing this linked put a massive smile on my face. There are just so many examples of captivating writing, innovative problem solving, and candid discu

HaaS is definitely a thing. PMaaS, as well! (Preventative Maintenance) I know a number of industrial robotics manufacturers have been pushing data-driven preventative maintenance initiatives. Ideally (for the manufacturer) this work is perf

Cool to see a weird piece of history from the hometown on HN. Many of those tunnels were used to run utilities and fiber so they still have usefulness, but it is sad to think about "what could have been" if many American cities ha

That last statement is crucial. I was surprised to see how in-depth and detailed these objectives are. Not to knock the author, mind you; the dedication to breaking these things into granular tasks is impressive. Rather, I feel that there&#

This is one of the best primers / courses in ROS around. Start at the top and just go straight down the list in the first section. Most of section 3 is unrelated to the ROS content and is general dev reference. http://nu-msr

An invaluable tool for analyzing data in robotics! Pretty much everyone I know who works with ROS has used PlotJuggler at least once.
