Nothing I’ve seen from the major players in this industry (Meta, Epic, etc…), has convinced me that they’re capable of doing better. I do hope I’m wrong though.

Users have been complaining about Google Search being awful for a while now. It’s only a matter of time before a radical incumbent totally changes the game. TikTok’s search solves the SEO spam problem, and the content feels more organic. If

I’m really disappointed that the M2 Air doesn’t support two external displays. I don’t need the bulky expensive MacBook Pro. The M1 Air is already far more powerful than I need. I really hope this isn’t artificial market segmentation by App

The developers at my company basically staged a revolt because we were so sick of out windows notebooks (yes, I’m being dramatic for effect). We’re all immediately moving over to M1/M2. > I've decided I want to work for a compa

Once you experience a computer that is absolutely silent, it’s really hard to go back to a normal laptop. My windows notebook spins it’s fan constantly and it drives me crazy. I have to put the machine to sleep and unplug the charger just t

I’ve realized that the only reason I desired a touch screen on windows notebooks was because windows trackpads are so awful. Even on high end $3,000+ machines. The Mac trackpads are so responsive that they feel every bit as good as having a

Phenomenal. The best computers I’ve ever used. My MacBook Air never has fan noise, never gets hot, and never thermal throttles. The battery lasts so long that I go days between charging it. The machine feels faster and more responsive tha

If the M2 Air supported two displays, I’d have no reason whatsoever to buy the expensive MacBook Pro. The M1/M2 Air is already so ridiculously overpowered for my needs. Which is probably why the Air doesn’t support two displays. Sigh.

I agree completely. Native iOS and Android apps are fantastic in that, as long as you're willing to follow Apple's/Google's guidelines, it's pretty easy to create great user experiences and highly maintainable softw

This doesn't explain why PWAs are still a rarity on Android though. You'd think that the ability to target both desktop (web) and Android (web/PWA) would've attracted more developer interest. I can't really comment

I find that SwiftUI is fantastic for small, self-contained views, that don’t have any complex custom behaviour, and don’t deal with navigation logic. For anything more complex that that, I’d strongly urge falling back to UIKit

There’s some recognition within apple that push notifications were a mistake (at least as they’re implemented today). iOS 15 introduced notification filters and notification summaries iOS 16 doesn’t even show notifications on the Lock Scree

We’ve been hearing about web being the future of mobile apps for at least 15 years now. Yet alas, mobile users still spend the vast majority of their time in native apps. What’s going wrong here? I feel like we’re spinning our tires in th

At some point the industry needs to have an honest discussion with itself about the state of the UX of the open web. I feel like we keep telling ourselves the mobile web is fine because we have PWAs and all these other native-like gizmos, b

Recall how Google gimped Windows Phone support on the web, presumably to advantage their own platform and web services. My fear is that they'd do the same to Safari on iOS. They could break support on iOS, to force users to Chrome, whe
