Nothing wrong with a conservative take, especially given all the hype, but I often wonder if its hard to see the magnitude of the change at "day-to-day" speed. And the emotions one gets from reading the "takes" on news s

Its wild people still have this attitude. Like... have you used these tools at all? You don't have to go full vibe coding to see the clear value they provide and its order of magnitude leap over the tools we had before...

The fact is that every major company is AI accelerating their development, and soon, it will just be every company. We're already past the point of getting our hackles raised when we suspect something is AI written. Everything is or so

Simplicity and convenience are often inversely correlated. Life was for sure simpler in times gone by, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was better. Definitely different. I'm sure future posters will look back on these years wi

The real natural law is scarcity. We will always need a system to decide who gets to live by the ocean better than the default one, violence.

Tiny icons existed in desktop interfaces long before AI. Personally, I think they make it easier to read.

It'd be interesting to compare this to human teams, given the same challenges.

Something I've been thinking about a lot is that this new technology's primary UI is natural language. Human's are REALLY primed for natural language. If it sounds good it must be good. The code this new model writes is incre

You... don't know what Kubernetes is... pretty impressive, honestly. Its 2026 and its the de facto method of deploying software basically everywhere. You gotta really work for it to not know what its for by now.

Its refreshing to see a README.md that isn't AI slop, even if it is quick and dirty scratch notes that don't quite give you as much information as you'd like.

Just buy a Realm subscription from Mojang. I ran a private server for my kids for a while and it was a huge headache. Bedrock is purposely made to not make it easy to DIY. It was difficult for their friends to join, everyone was mad when i

Not to diminish the comment, but most things are not as complex as they sound when phrased in everyday language or sound much more complex than they are when phrased in technical language. Technical language is a tool that allows insiders t

In another decade I expect the processes and procedures will catch up. We're at that awkward time where there is still an expectation to fill out JIRA tickets, but it is possible to ship multiple features at once in less time than the

The problem is that the second you suspect something is written by AI, its a pretty good signal that 50-80% of the text is empty of meaning. Maybe that will change, but LLMs are terrible and inefficient writers. Only so much time in the day

I don't think it's a given that this can't be partly or mostly policed by parents if they were provided good tools to do so. As it is all of the parental controls on all devices, apps, and services are extremely lackluster. S

I think people will come around to accepting llm written code eventually, but it's hard having your entire career, and identity, upended overnight. Many people, myself included, have come to define themselves by their coding skills. Th
