There is more to software engineering than solving code puzzles. What about debugging, writing clean code, writing effective tests, architecture, optimization, profiling etc.? None of these are exercised by doing leetcode. Use it or lose it

I was about to downvote you because I read your username as reply to OP’s comment. To add: at what point we stop dismissing the culture of our ancestors that we have lost as mere nostalgia? I hate how we cannot have a serious discussion abo

Thank you for being the only one to include the opening line of a book to pique my interest. And piqued it is. I have enjoyed The Wasp Factory (haven't read his scifi yet), and this sounds as exciting. I should really give Consider Phl

I've done use-package, straight, quelpa, tried elpaca a few years back when the hype grew and it was a buggy mess, back to use-package when it was merged into core. I'm tired boss. There's a little too much churn I feel these

It's a delicate balance like the Ballmer Peak. Too much or too little problems in childhood and you don't get the incredible drive of these types. With my own 'difficult' childhood all I got was, according to Gabor Maté,

AI boosters: we have reached AGI! we have reached super-intelligence! You better adapt, things are moving fast, you are going to be left behind AI boosters also: wait, you can’t ban it, we don’t even know what intelligence is yet.

Those don’t count. Looking forward to the future where Americans wake up to learn why they are the most hated country in the world. They’ll still think it’s only because of Trump.

People in niche subs participate in popular ones and thus are participant or influenced by astroturfing campaigns. It’s just much harder to tell at small scale, but it’s naive to continue perpetuating the meme that small Reddit subs are fin

OP’s point is that world domination is possible only in collusion with the State. You can’t have trillion dollar companies without going to dinner with the President of the banana republic to kiss his ass and line his pockets.

I really hate how people who have always thought AI research to be an existential risk for humanity, now are apparently bundled to be on the same side of the Sam Altmans and Dario Amodeis that are using the existential risk as a sneaky form

I’m having a time parsing your comment: you’d consider suicide because you are far away from the people you love? (i.e. you have something to look forward to) The times I have felt suicidal were when I had nothing to look forward to. Havi

Replace “novels” with music and go check YouTube for slop playlists and people happily eating it up. The problem of AI “art” has never been that it cannot pass for the real thing. There are plenty of people buying slop ebooks on Amazon toda

I'll eat my hat if we still talk about Clair Obscur in the next decade, like we might still be talking about Dark Souls (2011), for example, to this day. It is a good game in an era where big name studios only care to invest in live-se
