Flint locks were deadly weapons designed for military use. Why not want the most modern weapons? There is an entire sport shooting class for these modern weapons. It's also the preferred weapon for varmint shooting such as helping cattlemen

I know for a fact that they don't fully cooperate even when law enforcement is involved. Most LEO's won't jump through the hoops over and over when there are more important cases to work on.
