That’s pretty startling to hear. As a child growing up in a london suburb we would disappear for hours to the local park and environs. Playing cricket, other games, or just roaming around. About the only supervision was if the dog came too.

Not possible if you like in the sticks and want to live a normal life. Major metropolis with lots of public transport infrastructure and an Uber only 5 minutes away at 3am, sure. Personal experience both.

Forgive my skepticism, but I seem to recall pulse jets have almost no throttle ability (hence the dead stick landing) and pretty poor fuel efficiency (v low compression / pressure ratio). Then there's the sound and IR signature. S

As it happens I’ve always found the American Querty keyboard much better for C programming than the English one due to bracket / punctuation layout.
