I was hoping to see some numbers from emusic in there. I've been paying my monthly subscription for years, and I've always been curious as to how the payout split goes. Does anyone have a link / source / info on this?

You're making the assumption that a consultant can step aside with only a minor financial hiccup. Unfortunately, the 80/20 rule applies to consulting too, so you often find yourself in the situation where 80% of your revenue comes from the

I came here to make the same recommendation. I wasn't too surprised to find it was already made :) I read it about 6 months ago. Still haven't found the kitchen scale I want, but I'm looking....

Ideas like this always reminds me of the old lady who swallowed a fly, which is such a powerful metaphor for almost any time we try to control invasive species. Creating a demand for a product is a powerful force, but it sure is hard to con

I think Thyrd ( http://thyrd.org/ ) fits the bill. You might want to look at the screencast for a good intro: http://thyrd.org/thyrd/screencast.php?v=01 .

I'd love to hear about it too. From a slightly selfish perspective, I'd love to know if you knew about Leanpub ( http://leanpub.com ) and, if you did, what about it made you do the work of publishing it yourself rather than going through us

Yes, I'd like to hear more about this too. Does screen integrate with the OS X copy / paste buffer?

If you're unfamiliar with either screen or tmux and looking to learn one, then I'd recommend going with tmux. I just made that switch myself recently, and found getting things set up how I liked them with screen extremely frustrating. With

Heh. I just checked, and you're absolutely right. I guess they've changed it since I first signed up. Too bad, it was really good the other way.

I just posted this on avc.com, but might as well add to the discussion here: Songkick ( http://songkick.com ) nails this for first time users. You can go to the site and start tracking favorite bands without providing any sign up info. Only

The layout of the site is a little messed up for me (Chrome on OS X). See the bottom where the "built in a week" text is over top of the description. http://imgur.com/xNWb6

I was wondering the same thing. I find my walk (around half an hour) to be a net positive. Significantly better than my previous commutes, which were the same amount of time but by bicycle. I'm totally spoiled, though. I've never had a car

Nice code! Docco always impresses too, eh? I really like the use of: this[key] = value for key, value of options I'm going to use that for sure :)

For everyone who's interested in Yurii's book: if you go to http://leanpub.com/erlang-recipes and enter an email address, you'll get automatically notified when the book is first published. Thanks!

Sure, Eric is selling his blog content on Leanpub ( http://leanpub.com/startuplessonslearned ), but the key difference is that Eric asked us to do it, and he's getting money :). And of course someone could get around the need to pay $29.99

My cofounder at Leanpub wrote up his experience publishing "Flexible Rails" here: http://www.peterarmstrong.com/?p=266 Here's the tl;dr: * Peter made $48k from Flexible Rails. * $34k of that was from sales of the PDF. I'm biased, but it s

When we were trying to figure out if Dropbox would be a good sync tool for Leanpub, Peter went in to a local coffee shop and asked a bunch of people if they'd ever heard of Dropbox. All of the baristas and everyone else in their 20s had, an

Peter and I are both really curious about how fiction books will work with Leanpub. As you say, we think it's a slam dunk for non-fiction books (both Peter and I have written non-fiction books, so we have a bit of experience here). For fic
