Customers for economy class seats are very price sensitive - if you were enjoying the experience then the airline wouldn't be cutting the services offered close enough to the bone to offer a competitive price. You can pay for a slightl

I think many people are faced with a choice of studying physics or chemistry at a graduate level and, since up until then chemistry is generally much harder work than physics if you are an above average student, gravitate towards the subjec

They also charge differently (extortionately, some might say) for different speeds of data feed, although I'm not sure if they have tiers just for HFTs.

The HFT is wasteful but isn't bad for human traders, they tend to get better prices. It's bad (sometimes) for huge investors (VHNW individuals, hedge funds, pension funds which I guess represent regular people) that want to make l

Rice cookers are super lenient with water quantities. Sometimes they "beep" for being done a little early, I've found that leaving the rice for like 10 minutes in the cooker after it's officially done to help a lot with

I wonder at what density of wind farms they begin to interfere with each other's generating capacity. Presumably within one farm the turbines are sufficiently spaced that the reduction in power is minimal, but how large can an individu

Gartner et al. need to be seen as trendy and at the forefront of each industry they are in, so as you say there is never a trend they won't jump on. I suspect there is some value in actually talking to their analysts to work out which

The main data is the same, it's the primary key which is smaller, presumably a result of the structure of the uuid7 being more regular.

Not sure it'll make you feel better but the initial accident in this case was caused by a human driver.

Car accidents are taken orders of magnitude less seriously then plane accidents, it's not surprise that they released the vehicle that quickly.

Indeed, and you'd hope that AVs would do this. Notably the car which caused the initial incident didn't do this, they hit the pedestrian then drove off!

Agree on the portion sizes. The only time I've been we were next to a table of a college football team or something - like 20 huge guys, and I don't think many of them finished their portions (none of us did, we didn't even w

It's a good point that the radioactive fallout is less bad (in some ways) for certain concepts of nature than sharing the space with modern people.

This is cool. I've seen a bunch of farms with solar panels on their barn roofs (which makes sense, they can be a pretty large area) but never over crops. Solar panels over car parks are pretty great as well.
