Looks like that was only within the Amazon Game Studios org. I've never heard of any policy like that within AWS or the retail side of things.

That's not an Amazon policy. We have to take a 1 hour or so training course to participate in amazon-owned things on github and that's pretty much it. Basically zero rules around participating in our free time afaik.

This might not be a longterm strategy, because they aren't doing it for their latest major release (Encanto). It's currently in cinemas only.

yes it's 100% technically possible, the main issue is it would be significantly more expensive.

Seems like in general early-risers would prefer standard time, and people waking up around 7am or later would probably prefer daylight savings time year-round. My guess is that most people in the USA are _not_ early risers at this point and

What gives you the impression that countries besides the US are not becoming more polarized? My experience in Europe and South America make me think it's getting worse everywhere.

It does seem a bit odd to me too, but FWIW this is actually fairly common for biotech and pharma startups and has been for a long time. And although they haven't sold any consumer cars yet my understanding is they're currently del

> Providing supply will suffer the wrath of BANANA/CAVE/NIMBY anywhere you dream of living TBH I would have said the same thing 5-10 years ago, but I think this notion is outdated now. I live in a famously NIMBY city (Seattle)

I've lived in the US and UK and generally agree with you. But one thing that got me is that it seems fairly easy to defraud the system in the UK with everyone so freely giving out their bank account numbers. What actually protects the

Does cereal count as "ultra-processed"? Things like Cheerios don't seem much more processed than bread from what I can tell. Also honey-roasted peanuts? My understanding of ultra-processed would be things more like candy, che

In a strictly capitalist sense yes, but then by that argument we should just completely cut off all California farmers since they seem to make less money per water used when compared to California cities (I'm just stating your argument

If you care about limiting agricultural water usage, the first target to go after is dairy and animal ag, not almonds. Almonds are on the high side compared to other plants but their water usage per calorie is much less than animal ag. Also

Exactly. I used to work for a time in a bicycle repair shop, drilling out and re-tapping a broken or stripped hole or thread was a common fix, I would hardly consider it a "hack".

This is what happens when you treat IT as a cost center. Would love to see how many times the IT team urged higher-ups to prioritize and fund computer system modernization and upgrades.

Are you sure about that? If I boil water in my kitchen on my gas stove the CO2 and VOC levels in our living area nearly triple within 15 minutes of using the stove without burning any food. If I use the electric kettle there's obviousl

That's not necessarily the case. When you buy a house you can't suddenly just have a mortgage payment equivalent to someone who bought 10-20 years ago. And someone who just recently bought a house cannot charge higher rent than so

Isn't this generally always the case? I've always understood that when you buy you should expect to be paying more than a renter for maybe 5-10 years. At least in the US mortgage payments are almost always fixed whereas rents are
