The most surprising thing to me is that WhatsApp was not already blocked in China. I'd just assumed it would have been, given so many other Western messaging apps are.

That's too bad. The subvolume [0] features were an interesting paradigm. Kind of let you have a virtual filesystem-within-a-filesystem. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Btrfs#Subvolumes_and_snapshots

No, I'm in your boat. I was expecting a rather enlightening introspection on the weaker points of FB's corporate culture.

Austria's generous social welfare system and wide availability of other blue-collar-yet-comfortable-pay work should mean that the average joe won't be screwed over too much by this. Unlike in the US, where laid off folks really ha

I recently returned from vacation in Chile, where I noticed the majority of freeways had separate speed limits based on vehicle class. Two axle private vehicles had a speed limit of 130 km/h while trucks were only 100, and double-trail

I feel this article is confusing "passionate" with "willing to work crazy overtime", or "lacking any hobbies beside software". I would argue that most good programmers _are_ passionate about what they do, in th

Is this in fact the same H-1B bill that is likely to pass congress and the President's signature? I ask as the sponsor of the bill, Rep. Lofgren, is the (Democratic) congresswoman for downtown San Jose.
