What's your threshold to "disastrous" in terms of a missing warrant canary then? 3 weeks? 1 month? 2 months? longer?

That canary sits in direct reach of a LE (Law enforcement) of the US. $> whois 199.217.106.243 http://myip.ms/view/ip_addresses/3352914432/199.217.106.0_19... Edit: Typo law enforcement.

I'm not so sure if the demotion is valid for this story. The sole issue of a warrant canary is to either feed it weekly (their own decision) or retire it. Not feeding the updates weekly means something... telling everyone false alarm d

You realize, that forgetting to update the canaray gives the same message as "we were hit by a big fucking NSL, don't trust us and our software and systems ever again as their security has been compromised."? From the outside

Of course it needs to be manually. Fail open? A warrant canary system setup for the sole purpose of telling the whole world (and the clients, of course) that they were hit by not posting "a declaration that, up to that point, no warran

Well, some folks obviously watched out "for not updating it" during the last couple of weeks. From far away, the warrant canary served its purpose well.

Maybe they were indeed slapped with an NSL. What a nice christmas present, huh!? If they failed their own canary - how could you believe them in terms of their warant canaray setup ever again? Not so much at all, I'd say.

Then what is the reason to integrate it with twitter only? I can't even use it (and I wish I could) unless I sign in.

Thanks for your insight. As I said in the very beginning: "If you can - take your tax money elsewhere". This includes other countries.

I fully agree that everyone should be allowed to vote. Solving the specific problem is hard. I just wanted to give a small hint, that if someone is not happy with the status quo, they might try to change it. Of course I have to add, that fi

I agree that it's hard to relocate, that's why I stated "if you can". Some can and some do leave the places where they grew up for reasons of unhappiness with the policies of their gov.

Yes. Prosecute them, put them all in prison. If the US won't do that, the rest of the world has to oblige the moral and legal duty of prosecuting anyone involved in the torture of humans. That will restrict their travels wastly, right

OK I bite. The benefit is to know, that such organisations are present these days on european soil. Another benefit is to know, that certain biometric border checks do not only hassle regular travellers but also them.
