This blog seems all wrapped up in faux patriotism to me. As someone actually going through [1] the compliance requirements of the Online Safety Law (OSA), it is not as draconian as it is being painted here. 1. The act only applies if you ha

I'm a Mac guy, so no Androids or PC's around. I did try it on the Mac, and got "This browser doesn't support WebTransport, so the UDP side of this demo can't run here." Didn't see that on the iPad, though.

I’ve written about this before … I have no mind's eye, and I definitely consider it an advantage. I genuinely thought it was a euphemism until I was about 20, drunk, and surrounded by friends at college, playing a game in the student b

One of the advantages of LLM's is that you can set up a task list and tell it to burn through those tasks overnight. It's a rare night that Claude isn't busy for me, and I do burn through my 20x subscription, sufficiently t

i sold my m3 ultra /512 for £14000, or about $18000. The difference is what is important to me for a new one, and assuming $6k or so for the 256->512 boost, my cost will be about $16k, so i’ll save $2k by upgrading to the top-of-t

I’m about to release a cross compiler for a new language as open source, works on mac, win, linux. Produces binaries for mac, win, linux, wasm32 and a few others more of interest to me than anyone else (6502, m68k, arm A9 on zynq) next up i

I would argue that NATO under Trump is a paper tiger. There is a reason no-one wants to buy US weapons any more, though the intricacies of where they are, having assumed the US would be a reliable ally, mean the current flood of US weaponry

Last I knew, ASML was a Dutch company with a Veldhoven HQ. With the amount of shit that Trump's been pulling in Europe, The EU might be more willing to side with China and ban exports to the US.

Honestly, if you're going to build a compiler today, an LLM is a pretty good way to go about it. Just make sure you actually design the language and let the LLM do the implementation and testing. xc[1] started off as a modern compile

I agree with this. I think current social-network websites highlight the most extreme "news", posts and articles - which they benefit from, and therefore encourage, it's a vicious circle. It doesn't end well for the user

"The revolutionary RISC architecture" here is referring to "the ARM architecture", which is a RISC architecture. I wasn't claiming that Acorn invented RISC.

By all means, the variety in addressing is a constant software-developer trap. The above will cover the 99% case though. There are even buildings with multiple postcodes (DVLA is one such, I believe)

My house has a name, not a number, not that uncommon in the UK, especially for a 200-year-old building. I think there’s a bit of false equivalence going on here as well regarding zip codes (several thousand addresses, or thereabouts) and a

Another, possibly easier, way is to ask an LLM to give you a quiz on a topic, and then discuss your answers with it. Surprisingly effective.

It's an easy "out" for those without the self-respect to admit when they do wrong. It's like "The computer did it" from the 80's and 90's. Blame the tool for the operator usage. It's pathetic.
