I've had AT&T gigabit fiber in Louisville for four years now and it's fully symmetric. I frequently run speed checks and I always see uploads close to 1gbit.

This has been in Debian since forever, and the installer asks if you want it. I've always opted to not install it since it's my opinion that my package choices are weird and shouldn't -at all- influence the distro defaults.

My former employer was the optical lab that actually manufactured the EnChroma lenses for a few years. My best friend also works there, is red-green colorblind and found that the EnChroma lenses didn't help him at all.
