I can see what you mean. I lived in the same town for the first couple of decades of my life. It's satisfying to know people in the town and point out who owns what building because I polished jewelry for him at his store in high school or

I think the president was not quite aware of the words "computer design" meant. He may have just meant software or something else. But I see what you mean and the software side is somewhat similar.

I'm unskilled but I am aware of it. I can hear the seething controlled anger or my co-workers perception of me that I do nothing or am worthless. I can feel the tiny neutron star of resentment go off every time they have to talk to me. I'm

One of my favorite examples of ambiguity when it comes to punctuation is the following "When hunting lions, hide in the bushes." vs. "When hunting, lions hide in the bushes."

This all depends on if you know how to really read a book, how to take good notes, and what to do with notes. :)

I think you are thinking of hard take off vs soft take off. Come back and ask me in 25 years and I will tell you which happened. :)

Fortunately, though, there are a lot of people making decisions about what to do. :)

Yes. Although I don't get out much. :) I'm also bound by golden handcuffs for a few years but I'm not sure I'm going to hang around that long anyways (options weren't worth much).

Another way might be to use tcpflow. Then just wait and see which files get large as the thing buffers.

I wanted to do this in high school so badly. I had friends whom I had met outside of school who had done this and it always seemed like they were a head in life. My co-worker has done this with his children and they are all starting college

I wish I could find more places in the first phase. I was part of a startup that got acquired a while back and I can honestly say I miss the earlier days. :(

Down-mod me if you want, but this kind of thing excites me! If there is magic in the world, then this is the kind I would expect to find in the future and I find it gratifying that we might understand it someday. :)

I can see what you mean; people need passion. But Newton got repeatable, predictable, reliable results pretty early on and convinced a sizable number of people. I want cold fusion to be real, to work. I really do...

This. THIS X 10!! I find that my ability to exercise is very heavily impacted by even the most small amount of junk food. Anything with flour or sugar is pretty much out. Even diet soda gives me a headache now. :(

We do something like this where i work. However, if a null or bad thread gets handled sometimes you get something uninformative, such as sem_wait() on top but doesn't really tell us where or what happened. Good article, though!

I dunno. Winners never quit and quitters never win but if you never win and you never quit, and furthermore, you are not convincing anyone, then you ... might want to honestly and seriously re-examine what you are doing.

One thing I wish I could have more experience or training with is office politics, at the very least to defend myself with. There are a ton of dirty tricks that unscrupulous co-workers can and have tried, to pull on me and I wish I had more
