Well, I was wondering, if they are so super parallelable then shouldn't I do something to take advantage of that? They say CPUs with many, many cores are not too far off and that software is the issue. Programmers don't write code to take a

This comment also makes me think that wget was made for a different time, a different web. I guess a wget for web 2.0 would be neat. It's still a super useful tool, though.

Be careful with that wget -r. Use -np to make sure that wget doesn't go up a directory tree from where you start.

Good point. :) I guess SE could have provided a good way to have a ready-made, slick interfaced 2.0 with hosting and everything put together. I dunno.

Another question: would a migration tool to move away from phpbb to SE have helped?

That seems reasonable. I'll look at the interview later; thanks. It's just that BBoard's design and interface seem so dated, so cluttered. SE is just more slick, such that, a community could really spawn around it. :( oh, well.

Christ, what a brilliant startup idea. I think this is the sort of thing people are looking for in terms of home surveillance -- simplicity, cost, access. Neat!

Yes, this is true, but should we bother with BB? ActiveSync makes it unnecessary to use BlackBerry Enterprise Server. So, there's no compelling reason to stick with BB. They have to have something else to make us want it, other than a physi

Yeah, those are important. Between my guesses, my VP, and other people in the office, an iPhone on verizon would be a big deal for 2 of the 3 reasons you mentioned.

So I'm curious about this scenario: How do you feel about an engineer, maybe with good ideas, maybe not, who gets an MBA? Would they be useful in a startup or anywhere else for that matter?

I think part of the appeal for an electric car for me is the much lower maintenance and higher reliability, if the EV1 was any indication. Perhaps that could be rolled into the justification for the price. It's an electric motor, avionics (

I wonder if one could get away with playing WoW on the iPad. Tons of hotkeys but I could still see it happening with a custom UI add-on for simple things like grinding, etc.
