Offtopic, but is there any sane reason plastic bags are outlawed here. It really annoys me because it seems like a victory of naive idealism over common sense. Plastic bags are really useful.

It's the antithesis of the tightly scripted goal based game. Players are tired of the 'do this' , 'now go do this', 'now go do this' type games. Even so called 'sandbox games' like grand theft auto/skyrim, have highly scripted/predefined

I love how this no-poaching debacle really shines a light on the hypocrisy of some much beloved tech mega-corps. Google and Apple execs may shower employees with perks, but at the end of the day, top execs still treat most of their labor li

Arguing against piracy on the internet is a giant waste of my time because if you have it in your head that piracy is "good" or "ok" then you will rationalize bad arguments all day defending an incorrect position. To address your latest spu

It takes some twisted logic to think thats a valid analogy. Dropbox is a perfectly valid filehosting service because they take reasonable measures to prevent copyright infringement. Megaupload(and mega) is not, because it's run by a perso

However you feel about copyright, profitting off of the distribution of other peoples work, without their permission, is not something that should be encouraged or tolerated.

It's pretty embarrassing that tech blogs are even covering this. Copyright law is about intent, not about technical specifics. The idea that new megaupload is ok because it encrypts illegitimate content before storing it is absurd.

Usually a large part of a ceo's job is human interaction. While it's not strictly necessary to have strong social skills to be a CEO, it sure is helpful.

The big psychological difference is that they are taking something that was free and then starting to charge/advertise versus having it be that way from the start. Kinda like how people would get annoyed if they have to pay to use the bath

Most people i've met seeking venture capital have zero chance of being capable of building the next giant company. Yet many have succeeded in raising capital regardless. VC's generally aren't willing to take on much risk, so you see them

I see most new developments in web technologies as layers upon layers of frameworks designed to make it easier to create ever more complex web-based applications that will ultimately become irrelevant when people realize that the complexity

One take away point from this for non-c coders is that higher level languages will always be significantly slower than C because it's far easier to make these kinds of fiddly pipeline optimizations when you don't have another abstraction la

It's absurd anyway. Advanced tech will(and already has, to an extent) put extremely destructive power in the hands of normal people. If we haven't learned to get along by then, we will certainly kill ourselves off.

I agree with this, 'me-too' products should be everyone's first business. Creating your first product is too damn hard and requires too much risk and dedication to make something where there isn't clear demand and a path to profitability.
