Just wild guesses here but anyone who has played Kerbal Space Program knows that while docking is no piece of cake, it happens slowly and you can back off and try again until you run out of fuel. Landing on a moving target shouldn't be

I think if you asked most game makers of that time, they would simply say, "You're crazy. You're planning to exploit the exact CGA chips and the exact mux and the exact nature of the monitor's response to the horizontal

So who wants to sell a patch for the now unsupported users of OS X 10.9, 10.8, ...? It could be as simple as changing the permissions on System Preferences so that now you must enter your password before running them (so that they always ru

I think a more correct assessment would be: If you think you haven't been hacked, you probably have (or you are so small that you may have only been probed by bots). If you haven't actually been hacked yet, it is only a matter of

That's definitely shorter, but I would hope that isn't considered the most shining example of non-obfuscated code. :) (For code golf, though, it's just fine.)

I've spent a fair bit of time in the open source radeon and nouveau drivers and I never noticed any workarounds in place solely to fix a broken client. Open source driver developers don't have the time or resources to pull off a s

That edit is the part I wish had been your thesis. (Because now I feel like I have to write the following:) There _is_ a unifying theme to the trends TechCrunch is writing about, but it's not what TechCrunch says it is. TechCrunch: &qu

Take a look at the BeagleBone Black. It has pretty decent I/O. The big gaping missing piece, of course, is better video output, but that's sort of in the same bucket as open source GPUs: missing in action.

Hopefully it is obvious that without DRM "protecting people from themselves" is still better served; with DRM the only winner is the company who locks out everyone else. Example of how it might work without DRM: Farmer A hesitates
