Good analysis, but I think we should call out the "predictable catastrophic failures." Humans can see the scenarios below coming from enough distance to mitigate the problem and AIs have not yet demonstrated equivalence: 1. Slow&#

Though it might not be obvious to American drivers, this is the solution. There will always be that driver who attempts to change lanes mid-intersection to get into an opening first; that's part of what motivates American drivers to en

This is what the series of articles will say. The second article (apparently in Norwegian only, I plowed through the Google-translate version) just talks about the reactions of people to the new police-sketch of her face.

So let me get this straight: 1. It's a given that somehow, somewhere, a nuke is going to get away from humanity. I'm honestly optimistic that it'll just be a reactor problem, and that we -- humanity -- learn every time one ha

Ok, you are correct. Galileo was originally designed to use the same frequencies as GPS. Now they use different enough frequencies that Galileo can be jammed without jamming GPS. Of course, jamming both is also possible.

To all who are writing that the EU Galileo system is "insurance" against the US's regional denial capability, it appears you haven't thought through how they would do that. It would not be by turning off or fuzzing the

I have my reservations about this code. I am a long time free software developer so it is hard to say it but it seems clear to me that a single entity (from a legal perspective) has to "own" the self-driving car software. In the f

Exactly. In modeling the threat that the ME poses to a libre system, the ideal would be to have it "gone," such that it will never activate regardless of what is in the BIOS flash. That's not possible, but the next best thing

The FSP is a package (the P in FSP). It includes in it the ME blob. The other parts of it are things like DRAM init. It would take work to develop a fully libre implementation for any Intel chipset, but the biggest hurdle was (and is) the M

The gold is at the bottom: The idea here would be to see if it was possible to control the NVMe over jtag in order to ask it to perform a DMA read over the PCIe Bus. In order to do so, the PCI_COMMAND_BUS_MASTER has to be set to 1.
