That's what I was thinking as well. Linux is a tougher nut to crack. I've done Windows VM on a dedicated I leased for 60$ a month, with other VMs on the same box. That was over an ssh tunnel, and I found it pretty performant. I me

One of the things I find interesting here is the SQL support via JaSync. A competitor to JDBC using netty and kotlin coroutines, or on Java Completable Futures.. https://github.com/jasync-sql/jasync-sql Spring R2DBC an

I was going to comment the same thing. I moved from F# to kotlin and have about 80% of what I want / used from F#. With more tools eco system that makes management happy. Arrow adds to that, with it's library and compiler addition

But how many places do you feel challenged at? I've been unchallenged in my work for the majority of my career. The only time I remember mental challenge was in my first year. Now the challenge is unrealistic deadlines, or oh we'v

I agree I came from Python/F#. I've also had a lot of success converting python teams to kotlin, and ruby teams to scala.

Thanks that was one of my top choices. I'm also looking at custom building a case. I'm debating if trimming 2L is worth the effort to build my own case.

I've been amazed with what proton can do and how well it runs. A number of games run very well, and performance is generally very good. But I'm planning a new SFF build and I'm trying to figure out how to get two gpus in an I

It's alpha/beta there is a lot of talk about concurrency and memory management. But yes this goes down to llvm. You can also import and compile c/c++ libraries via headers. I've been doing it recently. This is the streng

At it's base Kotlin is a nicer java. But it's much more. Simply looking at the syntax comparison is only half of the story. The focus at the recent conference was multi platform and concurrency. They are making concurrency a first

Unfortunately not. That is the hard part. Rumored for the 64core and it's chipset next year. You can get 32GB ECC at 2666mhz Dimms that work. Giving you a max of 128gb ecc on an am4

I have this constant internal argument of where do I go to live. I work in a city with an outdated tech scene, and very little vertical growth. The local tech managers and developers are trying. But the local government is raising taxes, ma

Kotlin for me. Val is immutable and they differentiate collections, i.e. list vs mutableList. This is still hampered by the JVM but it works. Combine that with multi platform productivity. If you do want to get dorkier there are fully funct

My recommendation is hit dice / indeed / etc. Look at jobs in the area. See what stacks are popular. Each locale I've worked in has it's own tech eco sphere. So what may be popular here may not be somewhere else.

I went to a talk where it labeled it as halfway between a dsl and sql. I haven't used it in about a year. ``` user { id, first_name } ``` would on the back end map to a function that runs something like. ``` select id, first_name
