Often it's not a matter of want but need. Of course many (but surely not all) people would _like_ to live in a single family home near a job center, great civil services with well-paying jobs but it's just not going to happen for

You can kinda tell when at the grocery store. Anecdotally, a lot of "bulk-comfort" foods like potato chips, sodas, flavored waters, cereals, ... about doubled in price but now most of these items are almost permanently "buy 1

1.5M$ sounds like a lot but in SF it's probably close to the cost of a single subsidized rental unit vs making Valencia more (or less) bike friendly.

You could maybe say that German cars are are built taking the German inspections into account, I doubt it's high on Tesla's list of concerns (both in terms of being a US company and market size, for now). The inspection is very

I don't think it's a power to make a difference thing. I think it's just individualism and self-centeredness, as in "it's not my backyard and I won't see it so whatever, someone else's problem".

I always wondered how "self-fulfilling" that is with Toyotas/Lexus. If you buy a Toyota for reliability, and intend to keep it, you're probably taking better care of it (both in terms of service and driving habits) than

Problem with any non-mass-produced camera seems currently the availability of image sensors. It seems that the only small-batch available sensors are for machine-vision and accordingly priced :/ The CMV12000 used here costs $2000-$2200

This reminds me of the self-driving car hype where we -- the public, not waymo/cruise -- didn't actually get fully self-driving cars ushering in an "end of driving" (or had to reimagine our cities and lives) but instead

I don't think most meat eaters these days have seen a pig that you had around slaughtered and butchered? A chicken? Eaten most of either, including brain, liver, marrow? It's been 35 years and I still remember. It's an entire

If you want to serve different ads dynamically you'd have to reencode every stream on the fly or find a way to dynamically insert segments into the existing encoded stream. Not sure the second is feasible with current codecs.

Problem with onshape is that most computation is done in the cloud and the free has been throttled a lot the last year or so imo, so you just constantly wait for sketches or extrusions to open or changes to apply. A minute or more sometimes

For most people EVs will work better for 95+% of car use. Dealers and other forces may want to stop the ride but I think EV proliferation is mostly self-reinforcing. Once an acquaintance has one, many others in the social circle will follow
