Corona panic isn’t going to kill more people than the virus. Also, it certainly will kill far less people than if we didn’t react at all.

I’m not sure you can lump all of IH together into one big undesirable thing. All platforms have bad apples but there’s plenty of good information if you look closely.

Most of the bus stops near me lack seating too. I’ve seen people sitting on the fire hydrants, fences, and the ground instead since the bus doesn’t come very often. They’re also on main roads but most are at least somewhat close to some res

Wow. This is what I’d expect from a large company. Full 3D representations with super smooth object recognition. Tesla’s looks like a student project compared to that. Although I wonder which is more truthful. I bet Google’s demo takes sign

I think the common argument against try is that it was a macro in a language without macros. That’s pretty confusing behavior and you can’t expect anyone to understand that without reading the specification.

I’ll chime in and say that I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and that I love the way marijuana makes me feel and sativa strains are by far the best. It makes me feel like I’m finally how noticing how beautiful the world is and like I ca

Okay buddy. A cursory search for what you're saying only turns up conspiracy theories but I'll ignore that. If you were to have it your way, and abolish public schools, what would you propose as the alternative if anything?

But you’re imagining an ideal society in which most people would choose to learn. If history is any indicator most would choose not to or even worse be unable to. For a long time education was a privilege only enjoyed by the wealthy.

I’m not suggesting that people never learned without public school, but I firmly believe that the majority of people learned very little. I didn’t like school much myself but I think you’d have to be pretty jaded to say you or anyone else

I’m not sure how I feel about the ethics of volunteers massively contributing to the growth of a for-profit company. StackExchange wouldn’t be anywhere near as big as they are without its volunteers and yet they only care about their bottom

That’s a really bold statement. Are you advocating that people only learn if they desire to? That sounds like a huge step back for society in my opinion

That’s not a Ruby thing. That’s a Rails thing. In Ruby you still have to require your code like every other language.

I love Rails but even RubyMine struggles to understand the context of a Rails app. Everything being dynamically required seems to be the real thing that makes it hard to be context aware.

Is it? You either you need some kind of server side JavaScript rendering (pita to get right imo) or you need to create a complete copy of the website that’s statically rendered (and replaced if the user has JS enabled?)

I had the displeasure of working with gRPC and Python as an intern. I ended up writing a makefile that would generate the files and then immediately run sed on them to fix their imports. It felt like a terrible hack and I hated having to do

I wouldn’t say that Kotlin was written for mobile apps. JetBrains, the company that created Kotlin, doesn’t even have mobile apps AFAIK. It’s just meant to be a more modern JVM language and that means it does anything Java does just better.

It does. If you’re asking why not AOT compile a whole ruby app? Well Ruby is a really dynamic language and the generated C might not be valid after the app begins execution. I guess theoretically you could enumerate all of the different pos
