This is disappointing. Satire of niche tech culture certainly seems like it could fit in around here. Also, I really doubt the “Show HN” addition to title significantly skewed the upvotes.

Personally I think this is a really funny post. Kinda surprised how many comments seem to be taking it seriously.

What’s your point exactly? Yes, somebody younger can do the job but Biden chose to run and the people voted for him.

I don’t get the age concerns. He’s only 3 years older than Trump.

From what I understand ADHD and Autism share some symptoms but ADHD isn’t part of the spectrum because the causes are different. It’s generally understood that the effects of ADHD diminish as you get older but the effects of Autism do not.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Memory: 16GB Storage: Samsung Evo 970 500 GB NVMe SSD OS: Pop!_OS 20.04 Pretty middle of the road specs but it's plenty enough for the web development and light gaming that I do. :)

Pretty clean website! One concern I have is the comparison of speeches made relatively far apart. References to Covid in March are going to be pretty dated when compared to references made in October.

I use my own computer because my company just doesn't have any rules against it afaik. I just installed a VPN client that's compatible with their server.

ADHD teens tend to be rather oppositional. Personally, I always had a really hard time accepting unsolicited advice from anybody and that includes loved ones. The best thing somebody with ADHD can do is externalize everything they want

Routine has been the best way of coping without stimulants for me too. Developing strong routines got me through college.

I was pretty bothered just knowing that time is a real thing and not some construct.

The inconsistency is the worst part about the scroll linked effects on this website. Sometimes scrolling causes a huge change to the content, almost like scrolling to the next slide in powerpoint. Other times scrolling simply moves the text

Rails is also nice since you can write very little code to get the job done.

I’ve also had a bad experience with Cloudflare’s sales team. I was testing out their workers platform very shortly after its initial release when I got an email from a guy at Cloudflare claiming to be looking for user feedback on workers. I

It seems like the intent is for RBS to be auto generated from other tooling. Sorbet for example lets you write inline type definitions and is planned to fully integrate with RBS. The other good thing about RBS being in separate files is it

Yes, Ractor allows you to share fully immutable objects. So you can freeze an array or hash and share it as long as it doesn’t contain any references to mutable objects.

Ractor is "actor-like" and looks a bit like a mix of both Elixir/Erlang and Go.

Falcon, an async Ruby webserver, is a good example of scaling Ruby with fiber scheduling https://www.codeotaku.com/journal/2018-06/improving-ruby-con... I'm not sure if Ractor has any real benchmarks yet but

I imagine getting wide support for Ractor will be easier than Rubinius and other async Ruby attempts since it’s actually part of the core language.

In theory the scheduler should be similar to NodeJS and Ractor should be similar to Go if they’re both applied correctly.

I suspect it will be quite a while before we see Ractor being used in Rails. Ractor is very strict about data isolation to prevent race conditions and existing code will need significant refactoring.

But that is Postgres tech and it gave CockroachDB the ability to reuse existing client code for Postgres. https://www.cockroachlabs.com/blog/why-postgres/

Measuring the importance of Postgres is tricky. I’ve noticed that a lot of new DB services use Postgres tech at some level. Cockroach DB is a good example and arguably a pretty important project.
