"Passwords are dying" NOPE. Magic Links are dieing. This is probably the 20th time I've seen a start-up posting proudly about how they chose magic links over standard auth and I don't think any of them have stuck. It i

I hate this magic link flow. Its a major pain in my ass when I already have a password manager that knows how to login. Now I have to leave my browser and go to my e-mail client that will open a new tab even though I already have one

I've been using fish for 3 months now after using Bash for 20. I'm probably going to switch back in the next few days. I LOVE fish but they went out of their way to not be compatible with Bash (like (pwd) instead of $(pwd) for e

I'd suggest maintaining two accounts. One that allows NSFW and one that doesn't. This is what I do, because you are on a user generated content site. I don't mind NSFW content at all but if I'm surfing reddit in line

Creating the cluster of servers isn't the value of kubernetes. We all had clusters of servers well before k8s, openstack, and things like AWS. The benefit of k8s is the orchestration of those clusters. Spinning up 6 new http servers

We switched our developer environment to k8s instead of docker-compose and our lives improved dramatically. Software is complex these days and having nice orchestration is awesome both in development and in production.

Yeah, I think thats the point though. Kubernetes enables the orchestration and observability of a PaaS in a much more flexible way so that you can get all of that while still matching the requirements of your business. I think Heroku and D

Have you seen kops? rancher? loft? I don't think its that terrible to manage k8s at all using the tools available to you. k8s definitely used to be be difficult to manage but that isn't the case anymore. But literally every clo

None of it requires kubernetes, kubernetes just does it out of the box better than any hand-rolled custom stack that tried to do the same. Its a true joy to work with compared to the cobbled together stuff I've built and/or used

Yeah, I honestly think there are some great learnings to be had from fossil that could be applied to git as well. Its unfortunate that ticketing, wikis, etc are all vendor specific for git (gitlab, github, bitbucket, sr.ht, etc) but with f

Sounds like you were probably using gnome-screensaver or some of the many other poorly written alternatives like cinnamon that do this. I don't believe there is any way for xscreensaver to unlock the desktop even if it does crash

JWZ has been complaining about these screensavers for a decade. His screensaver from 20 years ago still doesn't have these issues. Its not an X11 problem. - https://bit.ly/3o2qekz - https://bit.ly/38Y6
