Left a job that was sucking my soul dry. It was at one of the big tech companies, in a high-visibility, very popular project (lots of people here on HN follow it), but I just couldn't stand working there anymore, in part because of the

It seems that the Seattle public school district gives out public transit cards to kids in middle and high school, depending on circumstances and school bus availability. I’m not sure how the system works, but I’m about to find out since I’

Do you mind sharing in what state you live? I wonder if there’s a cultural difference between the West Coast and other parts of the country when it comes to calling CPS on people. We live in WA and our 9 year old daughter walks back from th

Pretty much this. A personal anecdote: a few months ago we realized our daughter was waking up very tired in the morning, so we figured she wasn't getting enough sleep. When we told her that bedtime was moving earlier, her initial reac

Oh, sorry. Yeah, I've heard about it. I don't like using services like Mint or Personal Capital because they indeed run into connectivity issues sometimes. I find it not to hard to keep track of things using a simple spreadsheet.

If this happened because of a single person's mistake, that's an organization flaw. No individual should be punished for this. Instead, the process (or lack thereof) that led to such an awful bug being shipped should be identified
