Coastal areas are becoming more and more walkable... Minus the lack of density - Santa Monica is the prime example, ask people about walkability and everyone is excited, then talk about making it happen for more people and you get crucified

Sure, would expect nothing less, but I'm also sure they have some sense of the range they are looking for. Such a range could help developers to establish whether their use case is viable or not. As is, the ambiguity is a deterrent fro

It was - 2011 is mentioned in both article and my comment. I just wish Google wouldn't bring back memories of that by not disclosing pricing of a very promising API. GAE has moved quite far ahead since then, but many people still won&#

I was really hoping they would post at least a preview of what the pricing will be. AppEngine pricing change resulted in a nasty surprise for a lot of people and a lot of vitriol towards Google. Just one article on this from many: http:&#x

London is 5100/sqkm, with 7.125 billion people, you'd need 1,397,059 sqkm, or 539,407 sq. miles. Texas is 268,820 sq. miles. You'd need higher density than Manhattan to fit all these people and have any hope of growth. Supply

That's very much an oversimplification - in pre-industrial society the majority of labor was involved in food production. At the current scale of farming, I don't see this happening. The article is very poorly written, but I think

How's 737 a small application? I'm talking cars, bikes and the like... EDIT: Also, a 737 does not use the type of engine described here, unless you want them to move back to prop design.

While not an earth-shattering amount, I'd rather see such grants/cost sharing go to tech that doesn't perpetuate dependence on fossil fuels. In the end, this tech only means we get to burn less, but not eliminate the emission

Visited Paris last November and the situation looked very differently - homeless were present, but did not appear to be the same mentally ill types that I see in LA and SF. That's not a coincidence - France has universal healthcare ( h

The AWS RedShift integration was a really good move, as one of the reasons we did not adopt them at my previous company was the requirement that the data set fit in memory of the server. With RedShift, you offload the actual crunching to th

Money is money. How one uses it is up to the individual. If the person took out a mortgage and paid it off after 30 years, there is nothing immoral about it and certainly doesn't prevent another person from doing the same. A paid off h
