Brands don't mean much when they're constantly bought up by other companies and then used to whitewash poorer quality products.

I hate non native apps (like Spotify, Slack, Teams, and to some extent browsers). That said, I think newer generations don't even know what native apps look like anymore. I can't think of any native desktop apps anymore except Off

OK, so I'm still curious about the underlying efficiency. Is there a better test of single core efficiency at the same TDP? Does Apple Silicon provide any noticeable improvement over other x86 or Arm chips in that scenario, or is it re

Where do you see the carbon intensity? I just see a plane above a train with a single "250g" figure.

I love the concept and the renders, but I wonder... is the spatial optimization really what's holding train travel back? If you decrease passenger density in order to increase privacy and comfort, do you then have a corresponding incre

Doesn't this miss differences between CPUs in their per-core efficiency?

> How would you convert 80% of the Linux kernel to rust? If you just leave the hard drive out by the sea, it should happen by itself. 80% should only take a few months.

Honestly, that's a lot better than the original. We should restore more art that way.

I gotta say, it's kinda nice when that happens... work just kinda pauses for everyone, from providers to customers. It kinda feels like a national holiday, and everyone downstream from the affected cloud can just kinda sit back and rel

I don't understand your argument? Wasn't GCP's own status page calling them outages? Some of our upstream providers (who use GCP) were definitely affected and down. As a former SRE there, is "widespread outage" a sp

I hope you're joking, lol, unless you really like mycological Russian Roulette. (There are lethal lookalike mushrooms that a vision model or even trained expert can't necessarily tell apart at just a glance)

Side note: It's much nicer if you have a small battery to act as a reservoir. The solar panel charges the battery and the battery charges everything else. That way you don't have to leave your phone out in the sun, and a moment&#x

It's not like the MacBooks have poor battery life? I'd be perfectly happy with an iPad that could run my IDE and execute code, even if it meant a few hours less battery.

Is the MUI model sustainable for you at all? I believe it's an open core system, where most components are FOSS but some components and features and support are gated behind a source-available paid MUI X license?
