Wow, doing some initial evaluation of moving (some) of my .Net shop to some Sinatra. Why didn't I know about Padrino?

For the record, there are a lot of big .NET projects on Github already: https://github.com/mono https://github.com/nhibernate https://github.com/ravendb Good to see more momentum in that direction, though of course!

I've been a staunch .Net defender for a long time, but have almost entirely thrown in the towel at this point. MVC is awesome, C# is awesome, F# is awesome... but, unfortunately Mono just doesn't cut it (Boehm GC? Really? s-gen is a nightma

Chances are that on any rush hour train there are at least one or two people busking, selling candy or begging. It's a near daily sight for me.

I'm sorry, but what the everloving fuck ? I see these guys every day on the subway. They have absolutely no impact on my life whatsoever, except the one time I chose to buy a bag of M+M's. I'm not sure how you ended up talking about robbin

I use node for new cutting edge things which Django and Python can handle, but not as easily as node. Like what?

I like irccloud.com quite a lot. A bit different of a product, but still very nice.

>"Bad" typography isn't a big deal IMO. Yes, it's slightly embarrassing and ugly, in this Unicode-enabled era, that we use <= for "less than or equal to" and != for "not equal to", when Unicode has given us better glyphs. But honest

I think Ubuntu should zag where Apple zags. I think they're doing it right. They're in a unique position to take an Apple-like path. I, for one, applaud what they're doing, as much as it terrifies all the half-power-users (I don't mean that

If you don't like the default window manager, use a different one! Arguably that's the point of running Linux. Ubuntu is so much more than it's default window manager.

What an abhorrent view. It's a psychopathic justification to shrug off the horrible lives of other people directly impacted by my lifestyle because 'hey, they already had a worse life'. I'm happy to admit I'm as much a part of the problem a

This is abhorrently unimportant drama. TC has been a trash rag from the start, and their flaming dramatic burnout is just as trash as everything else they've ever published. Go away already. This is publicity coup 101 shit. DIAF.

Ah-ha, but you can automate so much app management through the admin API. Oh wait, they deprecated and froze the only API that handled that!

The problem with Erlang, is it doesn’t let you do that. Erlang is religious about concurrency. Erlang allows any concurrency model as long as it’s actors. Unlike Java/C++/Scala it doesn’t provide concurrency constructs that allow you to cr

I absolutely agree. I don't comment all that much, but comment where it's impossible to get clarity -- or comment at a higher level to explain the rationale for the code. Commenting what code does -- is either 1) pointless or 2) indicative

Recently tried to choose nginx -- Mono fastcgi is a trainwreck though, and mod_mono works well enough. I'll switch to nginx as soon as that situation changes.
