You can do this with (the awesome) Citi 2% cash back card as well, just use their normal website to generate virtual numbers.

How long have you been working? You should expect big raises as you climb up your first 4-6 years but I don't think this advice holds generally.

The point is that if you leave too early you don't get to feel the weight of your earlier choices, therefore you don't really learn from your mistakes.

5% CoL is insulting when CoL goes up less than that? Maybe what you mean is that raises when you are promoted are not high enough? During your first 5 years or so you'll probably get good raises as you gain experience and increase the

The problem isn't the tax rate, it's the growing wealth inequality. Since you seem to have thought much about this already - do you agree it's a problem, and how would you fix it, if not for progressive taxation?

A 400k home in a ~80k salary, thats 5x what you make. I make 150k and live in a 300k home in the midwest. I do like the privacy of my area (you'd call it "car culture" for sure), so tradeoffs, I guess.

You can get the 5 bedroom house 15 minutes away from a decent city, 15 minutes away from work, in most states, and not miss out on much from the SV "lifestyle". I think the only thing I miss out on by not working in SV is working

Yeah, this is funny, but a bad idea. You getting on somebody elses workstation, under their login - what happens if they are doing bad shit to the company? Now you have to explain why you were seen on their workstation.
