This is almost funny enough to become a meme: For those of you who insist on thinking that the truth always lies in between two accounts of a situation, I urge you to drop that misguided notion, especially for this situation.

It drives me nuts when I visit popular blogs that serve as a place for discussion and yet they have no nesting of comments (three levels does not count). Forcing the linearity of comments does a big disservice to the readers, because in

I think that having the ability to expand and collapse comment trees would solve the first challenge. I don't know why this hasn't been done yet.

Would you say that building Etherpad isn't hard? Saying that real-time/comet/AJAX/[technology name] isn't hard is meaningless. I can easily say, for example, that "programming in C" isn't hard. I just don't see what your point is.

That sounds awesome, but it doesn't work for me. I did all that and yet FF just does an "I'm feeling lucky" for whatever I type in. Edit: It only works when I add keywords to the already installed search engines.

Humor is welcome on HN, but attempts at humor are not. It's just that HN has a higher standard of what is actually funny. Some recent examples: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=976321 http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=978683 I've f

Actually, I already know about that. What I wanted you to tell me (because I was too lazy to find it out for myself) was that I can change the search engine used via the Command+Up/Down keys. Still, those arrow keys are all the way down th

It would be nice if there were a way to get straight to it from a regular search though. It is still more convenient for me (in Firefox) to hit Command+k and type "define:". Also, it'd be nice if Google could just read my mind instead of me

I don't think the corporate-slave orientation is limited to CS students. If you're into entrepreneurship, you'll probably feel out of place in any technology-related major, especially if you only look for job prospects at campus job fairs.
