Yup. As a developer who maintains a snap, I hate snaps. Worst packaging obstacle course I’ve ever had to participate in.

Yup! Sometimes I'll hear a door opening creek or spell casting sound from Morrowind in my kid's youtube videos. I'm just waiting to hear "wololololo" somewhere now.

How do they create more ewaste though? Like many others report my experience is that apple products routinely last multiple times longer than other tech. I only just last week retired a MacBook bought in 2013, and it still worked just fine.

Yeah I’d never touch anything Oracle. Don’t reward horrible behavior. Best thing the industry can do is ignore them as much as possible and let them fade away.

I believe it. The consultant may change more things in the world but I don’t see how that change is necessarily a “contribution”. More like an optimization for a small set of people. The line cook however is creating from raw something that

Correct, these components were evolved. But, even my human creative process is somewhat evolutionary. The bad ideas fail internal tests and are mutated on, then more successful variants are used to repeat the process. That's intelligen

Yup. You need an AGI behind that vision for that premise to work. Even a fruit-fly class AGI would do it.

I think even that was seen as a potential “guilty conscience” risk if things went into litigation, so best to just let people suffer and die, that’s less expensive.

I dunno, I rather enjoy standing in the dark for 45 seconds while I toggle my phone’s wifi on and off and wait for my Hue app to try connect and then agree to a surprise 80 page EULA and a lecture about how Philips cares about my privacy so

Very true. From the perspective of something like a Tardigrade we are definitely well into a “singularity”. From the perspective of a rock the Tardigrade itself is matter experiencing a “singularity”.
