Wish I would have read the comments first. Got quite the look from my wife when I answered the first question!

Anecdotal, but we have seen a significant improvement in latency in our api response times after switching from Ruby 2.1 to 2.2. With 2.1 we could easily spot requests where the gc ran, but with 2.2 our requests are much more consistent.

I am self-employed and pay $6000 a year for high deductible health insurance for my family that has a $5000 deductible. So if my child breaks their arm and that is my only expense that year, then I paid $11,000 for their broken arm. Not c

I prefer this method any day. Most people in the younger generations don't have a house phone line, much less a fax machine. It's so annoying to me when I have to send something to a company and the only method they accept is a

I really expected for Amazon to release a Container Registry before they took the preview status off ECS. Looks like Google beat them to the punch. I'd still be very interested to see if Amazon will release something soon.

I guess all the Events weren't showing up yet because now I have 6 / 19 instances going down for a reboot.

I have 19 instances (18 in US-West-2) and none of them are affected. I would guess that lots of people here run in us-east-1 since that's the longest running region and I would bet that a lot of that 10% exists there. So, it may be 1

The length of the blackout would probably need to be given to provide some perspective. 2 30 minute blackouts would be much easier to deal with than 1 3 day blackout.

I had an older version Keurig and when it failed they sent me the new DRM Keurig. But I definitely agree with your opinion and when this one fails and is out of warranty, I'm definitely going to look into other brands.

I also had this happen to me too, and I was pretty annoyed. On the bright side, with this announcement, if you can afford to buy the "All Upfront" instances, then at least when you want to resell them, you don't have to worr

VPC instance pricing is the same as EC2 pricing. The VPN pricing is if you want to setup a VPN between your office (or some other location) and your VPC.

I would love to know this too. I'm sure they probably have enterprise customers that are using some of this stuff. I do love the idea of being able to store some of these things in source control. One of the things that I am curious

After reading that blog post from Microsoft, I believe even stronger now that Google is approaching this carelessly. Microsoft announced this almost a year ago and yet the blog post reads that they are giving until January 1st 2017 until t

You say that Google will be doing this transition along with everyone else, but you won't be feeling the same pain. Google's current cert expires November 24th, 2014, so when you extend it then it will be for 1 year and your new

Thanks for the reply, I thought I was understanding it correctly. Now that I think about it more, they will still be able to use SHA-1 and not be affected because they will surely just issue another certificate that only lasts 1 year which

Anybody know what the easiest way to determine if your certificate is affected? I looked at my certificate and it says Signature Algorithm is "SHA-1 with RSA Encryption". Is this affected? When I viewed the certificate for goog

Not quite a fair comparison because you are showing the price of a 1GB volume. However, if you had a 50 GB volume, then you would be paying $16.25 (50 * 0.325) per month on GCP, and you would be paying $9.25 ((50 * 0.125 + (30 * 0.10)) on

Call me crazy, but $5.50 per install seems like a crazy ridiculous price to pay! Also, does the #5 App in the App Store really only get 5300+ installs per day, that seems really low. Or is this #5 in a category?

I'll have to disagree with you as I own both a 3 year old Thinkpad and a 2 year old Macbook Pro. The keyboard of my Thinkpad has been giving me problems for over a year, and I haven't had any problems with the keyboard on my Macbook.
