Not yet. I'm trying to figure out what is going on before destroying everything. I did try two different versions of Firefox on the same machine though (with different profiles).

You could use Firefox Containers for that.

No need for a proxy to check it. HN is very old-school, it is very easy to see the raw requests and stuff. Everything looks as it should be, it just doesn't work. I'm inclined to believe there is something funky going on with both

Yes, but it was the only story I remembered on the spot that had a very personal devil that challenged only the main character :-) I too am hoping this has a happier ending. All wisdom here points towards making a new profile, which is some

It looks like it, but it is happening on two separate profiles. Both my Nightly profile and my Firefox stable version profile. Unless both profiles are corrupt, which would be odd.

I'm on standard. That was one of the first things I checked even though I didn't write that step on the post.

Been through that already. All add-ons disabled and the problem persisted.

I also deleted cache and disabled add-ons, still not working. The successful login with private browsing makes me hopeful though. Maybe I'll find a solution :-)

I tried that, it didn't work. I love containers, and it was one of my attempts to solve it. I forgot to include that one in the post, I've tried so many things...

I tried two different profiles, one for Nightly and another for Stable. None worked. UPDATE: I can log in using private browsing... holy shit, what is going on!

I can login to other sites without any hiccup. Also, I can log in to HN from other browsers. I have no idea what is going on. :-(

It is dead simple, the sloppiness of the software does not affect its ability to generate money for shareholders. That is all that matters for those in charge. Ship things fast; explain that you'll fix stuff with frequent updates; each

There is a bunch of them out there. Many died in the last twenty years. The only ones that I am aware of that are in active development are LiveCode and SuperCard.

That is because that account is for learning and building stuff for your own usage. If your objective is to ship software, you're supposed to go with a standard license. Apps built with them don't have such checks in place.

Well, to each their own, but I find the starter plan with a single platform deployment at 7.99 per month pretty OK. I must say that I see a lot of value in LiveCode. I have a standard plan with lots of deployment options, enabling me to shi

Because people inside Gemini ecosystem already know all the stuff I wrote in the post. That is an article for people on the Web who are talking about Gemini.

That is not how it was taught to me. Expat is when your job moves you to a new country, as in "you're an expatriate employee". Immigrant is when you move for your own reasons. Expats are expected to come back to their origina

I just wrote a "Gemini is a little gem"[1] inspired by the OP article. I think that most criticism of Gemini kinda misses some important aspects of the ecosystem and ethos behind the protocol. [1]: https://andregarzia.c

Yes, that is what I said. It can be done, but it is not as trivial as posting on a wordpress-based blog. You have to setup some sort of CI/CD workflow and be able to do git stuff from other devices. It is up to the OP if they want to g

A key take away from many years of running a blog as a static website is that may add friction to your process. Unless you have some sort of CI/CD going on, the chances are that one can only post from their own computer, while using so

I understand your concerns regarding metadata aggregation. SSB was not designed with those considerations. I think that with those concerns as a constraint you kinda need a different protocol. I think that rooms2 required a new protocol bec

Pubs are being phased out in favour of rooms[1]. You can totally have SSB work without pubs and rooms, it just takes longer for you to see some messages depending on how far away you are from the gossip. Rooms are much simpler than pubs, th
