Looks cool and to me the most interesting part is that it uses htmx which I like! However how does it differ from all the other offerings in this space that it is increasingly difficult to keep up with? I'm thinking of: - Dash - Stream

TL;DR: PRQL recently added a `loop` construct which makes it Turing Complete and allows doing cool things like calculating Pi right in your database. Last week saw the 0.6 release of PRQL which brought with it the capability to express Recu

Not Pandas but very similar and (in my very biased opinion) better is PRQL (www.prql-lang.org) which as of yesterday you can now use in DuckDB! See my comment above: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35027712

I made a docker image with a number of extensions already installed and enabled so you can start using DuckDB with the lowest friction. `alias dckr='docker run --rm -it -v $(pwd):/data -w /data duckerlabs/ducker'` t

I recently discovered xlOil after many years with xlWings and periodically checking for other options out there. xlOil is an order of magnitude faster than xlWings or VBA (benchmarks taken from here: https://github.com/luked

Ha ha ha, I initially expected this to be the opposite, i.e. vim controls to shift gears on a BMW. This is much better (and safer).

I see there are already a bunch of questions about how this compares to other tools like DVC, dolt, pachyderm.io and LFS? I would just like to add one to that list: How does this compare to lakeFS?

Am I the only one that thought this was going to be about a Wolfenstein 3D MUD? Anyway, I loved playing the Dune MUD in 1997-1998 in my first years at university.

Does anyone know of a tool/library that extracts the computational graph from an Excel spreadsheet? I saw someone start a project on this a few years ago but I don't know if it ever got anywhere.

Easily build Excel add-ins in Python. Also allows using SQL in Excel. Looks like a great alternative to xlWings and pyXLL.

Your point about shared adversity is so interesting to me. I was on a "ferry" (it was really a kind of speedboat or something) from Belize to Honduras that got caught in a tropical storm. The waves were terrible, people vomiting e

Sorry to hear that. In my country we also have daily power cuts but they are geographically distributed in order to prevent a total collapse of the grid. Is the latter what happened in your country? Our power cuts in South Africa are here t

[Disclaimer: PRQL core dev here] I'm hoping that PRQL [0] will one day become the universal API for tabular/relational data. We're targeting SQL as the backend in the first iteration given it's universality but there are

Or Google? Google probably also replaced the work of many a research assistant. It's interesting that ChatGPT feels more human so we're more likely to anthropomorphise it, like list it as a coauthor.
