Looks really interesting but I feel the README spends way to much time before getting to the point of how this differs from git. I would lead with the "Grace is an event sourced version control system ..." section.

I guess people like soloing big walls of rock so if it works for you. My risk appetite is a lot lower and I try to use version control for everything.

This is cool. Presumably, your server stores a registry of Device IDs and IPs to route messages? What about replacing this with some sort of partitioned DHT to make it decentralized? Also, the messages flow through your servers? Would it be

Oh man, I've been considering emigrating to Auckland and now you tell me that apart from insane house prices there would also be supervulcano status to worry about?

Thanks for this! The 5-min intro really undersells it as that part is not that much better than JSONPath. I started watching the London Node User Group video next and was about to switch it off but decided to hang on a bit longer because I

Love it! Really well thought out. Looking forward to trying this out tomorrow. Explorer it so far, here are a couple of pointers that I think would make it better for me: * I'd like the Nautilus to be larger, so maybe have that on the

When I was at university about 25 years ago, QM was about electron transition energies, with QED being a refinement of that for things like fine structure. In experimental HEP you had QCD and quark gluon plasma which informs things like the

I found that the scene in The Day After [1] where this comes out was one of the most frightening things I've seen. That and when the missiles leave the silos and you realize you have less than 30 minutes left to live. 1: https:/&

Yes, and also compared to Lance [1]. They have a spec [2] and I got a lot more out of Chang's talk [3] than the Nimble one. 1: https://lancedb.github.io/lance/ 2: https://lancedb.github.io/lance&#x

Oh this is about the impact on the company. For some reason I clicked on this thinking it would be about the impact on the people layed off and was looking for another story where The Onion writes itself.

Thanks for this. Do you know how are redirects handled? I searched on that page and didn't find anything but I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that they are catered for but I haven't found any documentation for that. I'm

There's also Arq Backup which can backup to OneDrive so if you have less than 1TB to backup you might not need to pay anything. https://www.arqbackup.com/

Thanks for the mention. For Postgres, the easiest way to use PRQL is the plprql extension: Link: https://github.com/kaspermarstal/plprql Previous discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=394286

Sounds cool. How is it different from PostgREST? What I would actually like to have is a generic PostgREST, sitting on top of sqlalchemy or something like that so that I can start on sqlite or DuckDB and then swap out the RDBMs if needed.

I have the same question. I'm particularly interested in the SQL dialects case. Does the rewrite code also have to be syntactically correct or is that a simple text replacement because that's what I see as the main impediment; if
