I totally agree with your argument. However just to throw out an idea for a possible counterexample (as mathematicians like to do): What if you used aperiodic Penrose tiles and could detect intensity? Would it be possible to encode anything

OT: I used to get that too until I switched to keto. I used to have tuna mayo sandwiches for lunch. Then I cut out the sandwich (I.e. bread) and just had tuna mayo and no longer got that after lunch low and stayed fuller for longer. It was

Have a look at LakeFS ( https://docs.lakefs.io/understand/architecture.html ). Files are stored by hash on S3. Metadata is stored in a database. I run it locally and access it just like an S3 store. Metadata is in a Post

A similar thing I've been thinking about is extracting open github issues and using LLMs to triage them. Might look into that.

Thank you for this. I was just thinking that I need something like it. Could you include an example of how you separate files? For example are you using YAML Front Matter or something like that?

Thanks for the reply. I thought as much but just wanted to confirm. I was initially thinking about whether it would be worth doing the parsing but after reconsidering I think that wouldn't actually add anything. Thanks!

Interesting. Does it do any parsing of the output to try and detect progress indicators like 70% or does it just display the elapsed time asking with the last line of output?

Interesting. How does this compare to pgBackRest? pgBackrest is just a backup tool and (afaik) doesn't do high availability but it does give me point-in-time backups and restore and I can control multiple clusters from a single point.

Is there an equivalent of CEL for the Arrow ecosystem? In particular is there a spec for what expressions are admissible for predicates or transformations for example here ( https://arrow.apache.org/docs/python/gene

Very cool! I'm actually mostly interested in the Import + Export functionality. Would be great to have that as a library without the gui part.

Could you give an example of what you mean by _fluent "py-data" first way_ ? You mean like a fluent API like `data.transform().filter()...` , that sort of thing?

I saw a youtube talk on this a year or two ago and it looked promising. I've been waiting to see more people take it up and sing its praises. This is the first HN post I've noticed since then. Any experiences of anyone trying it o

I was thinking along similar lines. It would great if incidental and multiwoven used some standard connector library instead of Slack's api so that I can seamlessly use them with other services like Teams which we use at work.

As a fun aside, I find it quite fascinating when you see a particular signal go dead overnight. I recall one particular overnight reversion strategy in my local market which in the 90s and early 2000s had like a 45 degree straight line equi

+1 for this. I've just watched some videos on this but it's still nebulous to me. It has something to do with hydration, and bundling only components used in the app, but making it compatible with ES modules while also allowing fo

Nice! I knew the 4-colour theorem but the zero knowledge proof illustration was great. I didn't get it initially but the FAQ cleared it up and I felt like I learned something as it wasn't obvious on the first look.
