That’s Not Invented Here syndrome, and it’s decidedly bad advice. The cost of dependency management may be understated but it’s always less than the cost of reimplementing everything found in established libraries.

I’m not that old but I also never did online dating. Is there a possibility that online dating has a bias for women that are “choosy” (for lack of a better term)?

It’s an interesting thought experiment to wonder if consumer protections extend to defects from state sponsored acts of espionage.

I attribute this to the pervasive publishing model where anyone can submit an article to any publication, and as long as the topic lines up with current events, then the editor is just a bot that is checking for spelling and the headline be

Opinions are valid, for sure. I can tell you that I’m a happy slack user at a company of just over a hundred thousand. I haven’t regularly used teams in about a year, but I would legitimately consider passing on a job offer where they used

There was a time when this was the case (and electron was the punching bag for critics at the time, iirc) but I don’t think this criticism is fair anymore. Slack is quite responsive and performant these days.

I know nothing about scientific publishing. Why is Nature still considered prestigious, if they often publish things that are wrong?

I wonder if it’s the engineering roles drying up or the amount of spammy recruiters has decreased. Anecdotally, I know a number of recruiters (some were even good ones) that got cut in recent years.

Honest question: do you have resources or materials that you could refer me to so that I could learn more about how this part of the pr/publishing industry works? I don’t doubt you, and it sounds like one of those “seedy underbelly of

It was never decided by a single person. We always did a 5-15m debrief, consisting of about 4 people (hiring manager, 2 interviewers, hr to facilitate and maybe a shadow 2), between interviews on the day.

I used to work at a medium sized firm (~2B revenue) and we had a policy where the candidate had an offer or a rejection (with reason) before they left the office. It was hard turning folks down, and it pushed us to have very crisp reasons f

Tell that to every government contractor. Many companies (that I'd wager you wouldn't take issue with) exist due to the contracts they have with a single government organization.

As long as the bills proposing tax increases also contain where the tax money is going to be allocated, I'd be all for it. America's track record for directing tax money towards the public good, is poor.
