I'm also willing to pay more for milk I perceive as better. That seems to be the way forward...distinguish your milk as something better than what's usually found at the supermarket. The farm near me places emphasis on their breed

I used to think life insurance was a waste until I had a family I was supporting. I found myself more concerned about dying. After increasing my life insurance, I was more comfortable with dying. The peace of mind is worth the cost to me.

One major advantage of a universal society would be an end to the arms race. It's a colossal waste of resources to have countries endlessly trying to outspend eachother on technology to kill people.

I think this is due to the general-purposeness of our wetware. We are born into bodies that we largely do not know how to operate. Through a process of trial and error we learn how to use our muscles and bones to move us through the world.

I was once a happy employee of Sam's Club, which is owned by Walmart. They paid more than other jobs available to me, I was provided a 15 minute break every two hours, good times. I didn't feel like anyone was spitting in my face

If we want more builders, we should work on the disincentives that builders face. The original American builders weren't saddled by a progressive tax system where they were penalized according to their degree of success. Perhaps we

Why is skepticism of western medicine so heavily downvoted on HN? Doctors have been wrong about things in the past, e.g. tobacco, fats, 6-11 servings of bread/cereal/pasta.

Perhaps Vitamin D status is just an indicator of adequate sunshine on the skin. This would explain why people with low vitamin D are more susceptible, yet supplementation with Vitamin D is ineffective.
