Configuration isn't stored in environment variables. Rather, they are exposed as environment variables. The idea is that the application environment / infrastructure should own the config data, not the application code itself. 12

Both static checking and compilation can be implemented using third party libraries. I think projects like mypyc could be a real game-changer.

Would this system support custom aggregates? How would I, for example, create a routine that defines a covariance matrix and have Ballista deal with the necessary map-reduce logic?

Fast for-loop, the ability to microoptimize numerical code (skip bounds checking in array access, SIMD optimations), GPU vector computing can use exact same code as CPU due to Julia functions being highly polymorphic. Your research code is

Lewis Carrol, author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, was a mathematician. His collection of short stories, A Tangled Tale, has a lot of math-related humor.

If your API is so complicated that it becomes a DSL, then perhaps there should be better communication between frontend and backend teams. Setting up a lean API contract makes more sense than creating an internal DSL or exposing internal da

I love the interface, but I don't like the idea of monkey-patching the standard library. Can't one instead spawn a separate thread and run the event loop there?
