This is exacerbated by the fact that Julia's Pkg.jl does not yet support conditional/optional dependencies [0]. A lot of these meta packages tend to pull everything but the kitchen sink. [0]: https://github.com/Jul

I don't think this advice is suppose to apply to /actual/ data structures. Rather, it applies to "business-logic objects" (e.g. video game entities or whatever).

Using make as a command runner (instead of an actual build system) feels bitter-sweet. I do that. I no longer trust make as an actual build system (too easy to be incorrect, dynamic targets requires gymnastics or makefile generators). But,

The author posted some interesting applications using Goblins (a video game and chat app). There is some interest in porting Goblins to Guile Scheme to integrate with GNU Shepherd (a service orchestrator) ... somehow.

Lisp totally works for scientific/statistical computing! Julia, for example, is commonly called a Lisp. And S/R/&c. are also very lispy. As is APL, to a lesser extent.

Great to see Loudvic talk about this openly. Performance is often overlooked in Guix discussions (and other package managers). Guix performance is really aweful. One thing that is not discussed here is "accidental compiling". For
