There was a rumor that was IETF was going to specify a bunch of new breaking changes in RFC 7195 (March 2014), and because of that (irrational) fear ECMA published the 1st edition of 404 very quickly in October of 2013. RFC 8259 and the 2nd

Not that far. Node has process.stdout/process.stdin/process.stderr. It's just that the console API is for debugging.

You can also now tell Node.js to use the experimental REPL ( https://github.com/nodejs/repl ) by default using the NODE_REPL_EXTERNAL_MODULE env variable!

You should not parse the stdout produced from console functions. It is for producing human-readable information. If you want machine-consumable data, you should use something like benchmark.js.

TLA is only in modules. Once node supports modules, it will also have TLA. We're also pushing out a version with 7.9 fairly soonish.

ThinkPad X1 with a good Linux OS is my favourite laptop ever. I've gotten almost 15hrs of battery from it, the trackpad is amazing, and the performance is top notch.

Making a website accessable isn't hard. there's a plethora of tooling available to help and most of it comes down to aria roles and color selection. It really is a bare minimum sort of task imo.

In 2010 Google determined that there were more people using the internet with accessibility features than Canadians. I can't find any new data, but I find it hard to assume that has gone down since. On top of that, making your website

The article is complaining that CloudFlare (as a result of them refusing to track you) requires people to solve captchas over and over again. How is this hurting your privacy exactly?

Some companies do have systems set up to pay OSS projects, but it's hard to navigate. I think a lot of people enjoy donating their time to OSS because it's fairly low-stress (until the above situation happens). I don't want t

Well that is indeed what I said, you just have to get used to telling people that. That's the big problem. That's the reason this thread on HN exists. People trying to figure out the right path, how to ask for money on their littl

That is the subject of the entire "oss funding" problem. Precisely that many companies are not willing to contribute funds even though the project is important to them. That's why this thread on HN exists.

It's generally not a problem until the big companies start asking for features, asking for bugs to be fixed, etc., expecting anything more than what the maintainers choose to donate. If someone from Amazon reports a bug it's kind

Good explanation of machine learning somewhere under the layers of condescending rhetoric and marketing. I went into this expecting something like the chrome comic and boy was that underwhelming.

I completely agree that the most difficult part of using V8 is the build process. In node we have three layers (!!!) of build tooling stacked together to insulate ourselves from it (gyp, ninja, and some extra python scripts), and it still r
