As a follow-up, I've gotten much much faster at modeling code in my mind and directly translating it into prompts. It really changes how you code! For each task, I'm extremely specific about what I want and depending on how closel

Sorry, most of my code is proprietary. However, I have a stock exchange project on my github I plan to rewrite in rust. I'm pretty busy now at work but I'll do that using claude code. If your friend is consuming massive amounts of

I focus more on reading code & prompting claude to write code for me at a high level. I also experiment a lot. I don't write code anymore by hand except in very rare cases. I ask claude for questions about the code to build underst

So far I’ve had 3-4 Claude code instances constantly working 8-12 hours a day every day. I use it like a stick shift though. When I need a big plan doc, switch to recommended model between opus and sonnet. And for coding, use sonnet. Someti

I feel like this is the most exciting news today about AI on hn. I really hope apple shows that small models can be just as capable as the bigger ones. Maybe they have the people on perplexity working on these small models.

Yes you’re right. I wrote the parent comment and then someone else also mentioned the lambda is returning before background processing. I missed that one!

`This wasn’t a request for clarification. It was a reset — a request for artefacts that have already been delivered, multiple times, across prior case updates, call notes, and debug summaries. The very same package AWS previously reviewed.

Not to sound like a crazy person, but, does taking energy from tidal waves mean taking energy from the momentum of the earth itself? I read a long time ago somewhere that if we extract enough tidal energy, the earth's rotation could sl

It's not developer's common interest to develop local services first. People build cloud services for a profit so they can be paid. However, sometimes developers need to build their portfolios (or out of pure interest) so they mak

37signals posted a job ad for a high paying junior position. The job ad also says software engineering skill over time follows a trajectory. They assume that a junior who is high potential doesn't have a defined trajectory yet. Therefo

Can a publicly traded company be sued if they allocate more resources to QA? Could an activist investor argue that cleaning up Mac OSX is a waste of time because people will buy the computer anyway?

I don't want to pay $20/month for something that is probably going to be mostly unchanged after I purchase. That's like paying rent for tooling. I want to own my tools not rent them.

I agree. This is article reads well. It has flow, good punctuation and pacing. Apart from the message that we will eventually pay Tithe to our new overlord tailscale, it was great.

I do know the problem domain well. My second iteration in rust already almost has an order book implemented. Writing code in rust however is very fun! (At least so far lol)

I did not know std::shared_ptr would not slow things down. I've learned something new today! :) Yes, I agree, epoll is a lot better than FD_ISSET. Maybe I can keep moving with my C++ code but do people still trust C++ projects anymore?

I think it made sense at the time. From what I understand, you can make Java run as fast as C++ if you're careful with it and use JIT. However, I have never tried such a thing and my source is hearsay from friends who have worked in fi

It took me about a year to build all of this stuff in C++. So I imagine since I've had to learn rust, it will probably take me the same amount of time if I can save time with dependencies.

I agree with you even though this is cynical. This is the likely response to climate change. It seems that our societal inertia is too great. People will not change unless climate change forces them to adapt.
