Really? I was under the understanding that we have continued to get taller and bigger driven by out our access to nutrition and medicine over the last couple of centuries.

I got rid of all my books a while ago and it was freeing. No more Tsondoku for me :) Previously, I always gave away books to friends after reading. Knowing someone else will enjoy them mitigates any loss aversion emotions (for me at least).

Agreed. I think most people would be a lot happier if they got rid of half their stuff. Then, next year, get rid of half again. We all keep so much and acquire so much that brings stress not joy.

I have a suggestion for you. Try making a board game instead. No complex technology to learn, way different than already being burnt out from coding all day, you can iterate on the fly by writing on your prototype, some can be tested solo (

It has more to do with the food industrial complex in the US. A lot of the "sugar" in US foods is corn syrup, which has been subsidized ~$48B in the last 25 years. Most low fat foods are just replaced with double the sugar to make

I think it is a function of building up the concepts. You might teach someone how to play Hearts which is pretty rules light. But once they understand that, other trick taking games already have a head start. Another approach is to start wi

There is a different version where a person takes drug A to solve problem X. But that has a side effect so they take drug B to solve that problem. And so on and so on and so on. Eventually, they decide to stop taking all the medicines and a

While you are right, I think the mindset is different. People know that the interactions are fake. The real lie they tell themselves is that "If they only got to know the real me......." This is what feeds the personal messages&#x

The most valuable thing I want AI to do with regards to coding is to have it write all the unit tests and get me to 100% code coverage. The data variance and combinatorics needed to construct all the meaningful tests is sometimes laborious

I would say (largely) even good designers don't write great rulebooks. It is a total different skill set. The best analogy is that Publishers are to Rulebooks what Software Releases are to QA. It is always left to the end and rushed ou

You are on the mark. The thing most people hate is learning a new game. My friend's wife refuses to learn new games but is fine playing Terraforming Mars every night (which is not an intro level game). Take games like Ark Nova with an

I disagree. True "good execution" will not produce bad results over the medium and long term but that is what good execution is actually solving for. Good execution should recognize when/how pivots should be made to produce v

This is all because of Reagan. Removal of the fairness doctrine and lowering of the highest tax rate from 70% to 50% to 28%. Now, we live in an oligarchy full stop. All the "free press" is owned by billionaires who crave tax cuts

This is an amazing book and I've read it 10+ times despite it being ~1000 pages. I tried a lot of the "sequels" but they just didn't deliver the same way and felt too samey and not a great continuation.
